“Purpose In Palaeoart - Science Communication and Beyond!” hosted by palaeoartist Joschua Knüppe
In a world of increasing AI imagery at every corner a paleoartists works can have a hard time to stand out. In such an environment it’s not just scientific credibility but also intent and purpose that can lift your work over the noise of slop. In this workshop we will explore the possibilities to tailor your work to different audiences and requirements.

If you feel a wave of artistic inspiration come to the ‘Arden’ room where there are a variety of Art Activities to try! Feel free to fill in any of our colouring pages, add to our group artwork or tissue paper collage, or just doodle any time of day!

In the ‘Library’ from 8pm on Saturday, we’re hosting our annual Art Exhibition. Come and see some outstanding artwork from some of the world’s top palaeoartists. Some artwork will be for sale and many artists will be able to take on commissions (this is a 16+ only event).

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at bringing prehistoric creatures to life, but aren’t sure where to start? This beginner’s workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of palaeoart and give you the tools and insights to flex your creative skills, interpret information from fossils, create visual stories and reconstruct life from the distant past. All ages welcome.
This workshop does not require pre-booking, but there are limited seats each session and it will be first come, first served. This workshop will repeat (check the schedule for session timings).

Join Jennifer from Dodo and Dinosaur® for an accessible and interactive workshop exploring how reconstructions of dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures have changed over time, inspired by her book Extraordinary Extinct™ Crystal Palace Dinosaurs. Compare and match Victorian interpretations with their modern counterparts, then select a description and have fun assembling your own prehistoric creature to take home!

They’re Back! Dinomania will be taking their gigantic piloted dinosaur costumes (and their robotic Ankylosaurus; Baby Bramble!) around the hotel. Make sure you’re around to interact with and photograph these fun dinosaurs!

Put your prehistoric knowledge to the test by solving riddles inspired by DinoCon talks and topics. Crack the clues and decipher the mystery word to be in with a chance of winning an Extraordinary Extinct™ t-shirt and baseball cap, customised with the designs of your choice! All attendees will receive a puzzle sheet at check-in and can complete the challenge at their own pace throughout the weekend.

We will be holding a live auction to raise money for this year’s chosen charity, the Turtle Foundation. A variety of unique donated items will be available to bid on. They will be on display outside the Vendor Hall entrance.

Over both Saturday and Sunday, our main talks and panels will be held in the ‘Palace’. These talks feature a wide mix of topics from palaeontology in the media, films & TV, more easy to digest science, life experience from real palaeontologists, and more!

In the ‘Palace’ at 9pm on Saturday, we’re hosting our annual palaeontology themed quiz. Darren has dug up a variety of questions from different palaeo related topics. Prizes will be available for the winners (this is a 16+ only event)!

In addition to the Live Charity Auction, there will also be a Silent Charity Auction. A wide variety of donated items will be available to bid on to help raise money for this year’s chosen charity, the Turtle Foundation.
We will soon be accepting donations if you would like to donate an item to the Silent Charity Auction!

In addition to our Main Talks in the ‘Palace’, we have a series of more scientific talks held in the ‘Library’. At these, you can learn about the latest scientific research being undertaken in palaeontology.
